It Is Never Too Late To Change Your Future!

STEPS TO CHANGE YOUR FUTURE

STEP 1:
Make the Decision
Only you can make the decision that you really want to change your life

Insanity:  Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome

NOTE: The only way you will change your future is to make the decision that you are going to do things differently than you have been (planning, budget, definitive goals, action, being consistent, etc.).  Every single one of us has the ability to change!  The hardest obstacle is making "the decision" and "doing it!"

If you are ready to change your LIFE (DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY THAN YOU HAVE BEEN), please read on and access all pages on this website to provide you guidance.  Contact me if you would like to set up a meeting to help you.

STEP 2:
"The Life List"
NOTE:  YOU NEED TO DO THIS ON YOU OWN!  DO NOT SIT OR CONVERSE WITH ANYONE, THIS IS YOU!

Take the time, get a pen and paper, pick a private place, sit down and make a list of the top 15-20 things you want out of life.

NOTE:  "The Life List" is something you will have for the rest of your life.  Some people work better from paper.  Some people work better from electronic means.  It does not matter what the media.  But 100%, you have to have this written (paper/electronic).  You will be updating this every time that you think of new things for the rest of your life.

STEP 3:

 Every Day
EVERY DAY, do something, even if it is only 10 minutes, towards achieving the goals/dreams that you wrote down in STEP 2 "The List"

This is actually the most important of all things you can do.  So I want to give you an example here:

Let's say you like to travel.  One of the items on your list is to travel to Yosemite National Park.  Every day do something towards that goal.  Just some basic items.  You have to "travel" there and have a "place" to stay.  Get on the web; start searching for plane prices, hotel prices, cabin prices, etc.  Search for different dates and prices so you can start planning on dates that work with prices.  Also, start putting $$$ in a travel fund.  Doesn't have to be a lot.  Anything is going to help when you make the reservations.

Bottom Line: Do something every single day towards your goals.  One day one goal, next day another goal.  You can't accomplish your goals unless you do something to make that happen.

STEP 4:
 Update/Maintain "The List"

As you are "daily" doing something toward your goals, I want you to update your "LIFE LIST".  Keep it updated; work form it; concentrate on the items on the list; ensure that you are keeping your list up-to-date!

This is very important from two standpoints.  First, the things you want to accomplish in your life are in front of you routinely, and therefore those aspirations and postive thoughts stay with you.  Secondly you concentrate on the end goal, you can see it, and you realize that the things you want in life are accomplishable!

By seeing, updating, and keeping your list in front of you, it is always giving you something to look forward to.  It is basically a perpetual goal.

NOTE:  I want you to really keep in mind, you will end up with quite a few goals on your "Life List."  It is completely OK that you don't do everything all the time.  What you will find out is there may be two or three items that raise to the top.  But completely keep all items on your "Life List".  At some point, you will be able to concentrate on items that you may not have been able to prioritize in the present, but may end up as item number 1 in the future.  There are many dynamics that depend on which items raise to the top:

Costs: one is cheaper than another and therefore easier to accomplish

Timing: You may see that for one item the timing is much better. For example:
Your favorite group is coming to your town in 3 months for a concert (move up the list)

Travel: One item may be an hour and a half away, and another across the ocean

There are so many factors that items can move up and around in priority.  That is totally OK!

Only Goal:  DO ONE OF THEM! > Then Repeat!

STEP 5:
DO IT!
Make it happen!  Do It!  Say "I Did!"

Items on your "Life List" do not have to be huge.  Once you get started and update, you should have many different type of items.  Some can be as simple as going to see a particulate movie that you have really been wanting to see.  One can be a trip to Switzerland.  One can be a trip to a state park in your state.  One could be a trip to a national park.  One could be going to the Orchestra.

Everybody has completely different aspirations in what they want to do.  Your "Life List" needs to be YOU!
STEP 6:
Repeat!

Move items to the top of the list and "knock" the next one out!

"The Formula"
> Make Different Decisions Than You Have Been
> Do Something Every Day Toward Your Goals
> DO IT!
"DO IT!" EXAMPLE
Travel
I'm using an example of travel simply because it is one of the items that is on the top of our "LIFE LIST"

When I first started doing this myself, I had a travel list, but it had three sections:
- State I Live In
- United States
- International

Each heading had multiple items.  I made a decision many years ago, that I would pick an item from each and make sure every year I did one from each list.  What that means is I would travel somewhere in my state, somewhere else in the U.S., and an international trip every year.  Sometimes when we think of international travel, you think $$$$$$$$$$$.  But ....

When I 1st started traveling Internationally, I started looking at many different options.  What I determined was that if I traveled out of Cape Canaveral or Miami on a cruise ship, I could find some 3 day / 2 night trips for $99.  I was in a location where I could drive.  At times, I was able to plan more out ahead and was able to find plane tickets from Nashville, TN to Orlando, FL for $79 one direction (very comparable for flights to Miami, FL also).  So, for $99 + $79 + $79 ($257) could fly from Nashville to Orlando, rent a car for $50 ish, Go on a 3 day cruise to the Bahamas, come back and fly back to Nashville.

For U.S trips, kind of the same.  I looked at National Parks and even State Parks, like Dinosaur Valley State Park in Texas.  I would drive, and sometimes do the same thing, find very cheap plane tickets from Nashville to other main cities throughout the U.S.

For Tennessee based trips could easily pick State parks, historic sites, going to Center Hill Lake.  Rented cabins in the State Parks.  Went camping over the weekend.  Drove up to the mountains for the day, hiked to a waterfall, then drove back home that evening/night.

Bottom Line:  You do not, by any means, have to think everything has to cost a lot of money.  You can search around and find deals.

I book many things a year or more out because I find deals that far out.

Knowing You Have Something To Look Forward To:  When you book something in the future, one things is, for a very long time you always have something to look forward to.  Doesn't have to be travel.  Only using this as an example I'm familiar with.

Living Example:
Where Do I Need To Live.  Am I In The Wrong Place?
I have talked to many many people over the past years.  I don't know how to say this any other way than being very blunt:

If you want to see the ocean each day, sun coming up and/or going down over the horizon, and you live in the "beautiful mountains" or center of the United States:
YOU LIVE IN THE WRONG PLACE!

If you want to see the mountains on a routine basis; go hiking in the mountains and look down on the top of the clouds; go up to an alpine lake and fly fish, and you live on a beautiful beach, or in the Great Plains:
YOU LIVE IN THE WRONG PLACE!

No matter how beautiful a place you may live in, if your heart is calling you to something different, then you need to change where you currenly live.

At this point, some people may say "But .... .... .... ....!"

There is NO "BUT"!

Bottom Line is:  If you want to really be happy, not look back and say "Oh man, I really wished I had ....", then you need to make the decision now to find that place you really want to be, put all the motions in place, and DO IT!

One of the other most common things I hear is "When everything is perfect, all the stars are 100% in alignment, and when I achieve ..."

Everything is never going to be perfect!

You can't just wait until you think this or that has to be this or that.  Chances are, if you do, 5 to 10 years from now you will still be saying "When I get to this point, then I will ..."

I'm here to tell you, that this is the same thing as "INSANITY."  Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.  You will keep doing the same thing, making the same decision, and the result will be the same.  10, 20, 30, 40 years from now you will find yourself in "EXACTLY" the same place you are.

MAKE THE DECISION to CHANGE your current situation, and DO IT!
